APRÁS SCHOOL GAP YEAR: TRIPS, TRAVEL, FRENCH AND FUN
Courses
Learning to teach anything is a valued life long skill - learning to teach a subject that combines technical discipline, with physical performance, requires the development of communications and motivational skills of the highest order. Qualifying as a ski instructor is challenging and demanding. It is also 'cool' - so don't let the boarders tell you they're cooler!
All Ski le Gap ski instructor courses are run by professional coaches qualified to the highest level possible. No other snow school has ONLY the highest level coaches working exclusively for them. Courses are designed and structured to lead-up to a progressive range of recognised CSIA qualifications.
Pete Colledge: 2002
"Skiing is my passion and I spent over 6 months of my Gap Year skiing in France, Canada and Australia. Canada was the best skiing that I experienced in the year and I was on a programme called SKI LE GAP.
Ski le gap is aimed at giving 18 year school leavers the chance to go out to Canada and get instructing qualifications. For 3 months we received intensive instruction from some of the best skiers in the world, many of them have or do represent their country in Skiing.
I gained numerous ski instructing qualifications on my Gap Year including CSIA level 3 which is an internationally recognized certification. (One other person on the course gained this level, and we were the first and only people to have ever gained level 1, 2 and 3 in just one seasons skiing! I also obtained level 1 freeski, level 1 CSCF, a race coach qualification and CADS a certification allowing me to teach disabled skiers!
In Australia I put my skills to use working for a ski school for 3 months, teaching people of all ages and ability to ski. I even had the chance to teach deaf and blind skiers. I taught at Selwyn Snowfields and also skied at Perisher Blue- the largest ski resort in Australia. The experience was on I will never forget and led to me making many life long friends."
Naturally our courses not only teach you to teach, they also develop your levels of personal skill and technique. So much so that students who have little or no experience of skiing can join the Ultimate Course and achieve levels of excellence by the end of the three month course.
Skiers joining the intensive course do however need a good basic level of competence in order to qualify at the end of the four week period.
