Coming out to Canada to come on Ski le Gap has been one of the most rewarding experinces in my life to date. The Ski le Gap experience brings together a great sport, learning and lots of fun to give the student the time of their life.
Not only is there the skiing but the Outdoor Experince of living in snow shelters and various trips to Quebec, Ottawa and Montreal. From start to finish you are in the care of the residential team who are always ready to help you with anything whether it will be missing room keys or just missing home!
As far as the skiing goes you will be instructed by some of Canada's finest skiers; in Tremblant it is considered to be a great honour to instruct for Ski le Gap and by the end of your time in Canada you will be a changed skier!
If you are a worried parent there is no need for everyone is looked after from the moment they arrive at the airport right up until they get on the plane home again. All the residential staff are qualified first-aiders and there is also a security guard who does patrol the halls to ensure of no break-ins or disturbances to the sleeping gappers! The food is also unbeatable with the Resident chef Norm who keeps the students stomachs full with a wide range of food throughout the weeks, steak nights on Friday, (my favourite!) and cookies and soup when you arrive back after a hard days skiing!
When students reach the half-way stage of the trip they are given the opportunity to teach at the Tremblant Ski School which is a must; it is an opportunity for the student to test their new found ability to instruct other people and it is very rewarding to watch your teachings improve another skier's technique.
If all this teaching sounds boring there is also a great night life; with two on site bars at the campus and pool tables and theme nights every week there is always a fun night to be had. What makes Saturdays extra special is the free bus that takes gappers from the campus to the resort to complete a great night out
Ski le Gap is the perfect answer for any student's Gap Year; not only do you gain useful qualifications and a chance to enjoy your favourite sport for 3 months but you also have an address book full of new friends you have made. For reasons like this Ski le Gap is a essential addition to any student's Gap Year.
