APRÁS SCHOOL GAP YEAR: TRIPS, TRAVEL, FRENCH AND FUN
Noel
During my final year at school my choices for a Gap Year was Ski Le Gap or to work in a chalet in France. Now that I'm here I know I had definitely made the right choice.
Before leaving the country I was worried by the fact that I did not know anyone, but as soon as I got here it was clear that everyone was out to make friends and have lots of fun!
Once arriving at Montreal international airport feeling extremely tired from the early start and long flight, we were met by residential staff who seemed more excited to see us then we were to see them whilst in our jet lagged state. They assured us that we would have the time of our lives and that time would fly, and man were they right!
There is never a boring week whilst at ski le gap, the weekends have theme parties such as toga night, 70's night wear the tightest pair of trousers you can find, celebrity party, and many more! During the week there are movie nights, bar trivia night, bonfire nights outside, and café le gap where you kick back, relax, talk and drink hot chocolate whilst eating marshmallows. Nightlife is amazing whether it is in the on site bar Last Run or in Tremblant itself where Octobar, Caribou, Le Diable, and café D'epoch all have an amazing nightlife everyday of the week.
As well as making sure we were well and organizing the on site parties, the residential staff also organize city trips to Quebec - tubing at night and enjoying the worlds largest winter carnival, Ottawa - sleep in an old jail, an unmissable experience, and Montreal - watching a live hockey match. As well as these amazing trips you can also spend a night on the outdoor experience staying in an igloo made out of snow!
Skiing is the reason anyone comes to Ski Le Gap, the instructors which help you obtain your qualifications are some of the most interesting people you will have ever met whether they have participated in world cups or skied some of the most amazing places in the world. The instructors ensure that you pass your exams and have fun on the slopes at the same time!
At the start of the course you are assigned to a mentor group, the people in your group will become your best friends as well as the mentor who is one of the instructors. The mentors aim is to make sure that everything is ok and to show you a good time whether it is go karting on ice or just going out for dinner!
Ski Le Gap is amazing from the delicious food from Norm the chef to the accommodation on the side of the lake, to the amazing staff. I would definitely recommend Ski Le Gap as it is an experience of a life time.
